Chevy Safety Assist is a suite of advanced driver assistance systems that uses a variety of cameras, sensors, and high-tech algorithms to watch out for dangerous situations on the road. Standard on models like the 2022 Chevy Equinox and Bolt EUV, Chevy Safety Assist features include the following:
- Forward collision alert
- Automatic emergency braking
- Front pedestrian braking
- Following distance indicator
- Lane keep assist with lane departure warning
- Intellibeam® auto high beam assist
The first of these three features work together to detect an imminent frontal collision with other vehicles or pedestrians and automatically apply the brakes to mitigate the impact or avoid it entirely. The other features are fairly self-explanatory. They can help you avoid unintentional drifting out of lane, as well as automatically toggle high-beam headlights to avoid blinding other drivers. And having a following distance indicator is always a perk when working to maintain safe gaps to other cars on the highway.
If you want even more assistance behind the wheel, optional Chevy Safety Assist features include adaptive cruise control, rear parking assistance, rear cross-traffic alert, and a high-definition surround vision camera. It’s a little like having a smart copilot at all times, helping you see more of the road and, at times, intervening to get you out of trouble.
