The 2022 Colorado is a great vehicle for those who want the utility of a truck in a smaller package than your typical full-size truck, such as the Silverado. Whether you're using it for your daily driver or you plan on towing a boat or travel-trailer, you can find a Colorado to fit your need since it offers configurations and a wide variety of trim levels to fit your lifestyle.

Chevrolet manufactures the Colorado in four trim levels: Work Truck (WT), LT, Z71, and ZR2. The off-road-inspired ZR2 comes with a four-wheel-drive system standard, while you can add 4x4 capability to the other models. You have your choice between an extended cab or crew cab on every trim. When you opt for the extended cab, you also get the larger 74.4-inch bed. Your crew cab option can come with either the short or long bed in all but the ZR2 model, which only comes with the short bed with the crew cab.

2022 Colorado Engine Options

Chevy uses their 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine as the base option in all trim levels. In addition, you get a six-speed automatic transmission paired with this engine. As a result, this powertrain produces 200 horsepower and 191 pound-feet of torque. It also runs efficiently, getting EPA-estimated ratings of 19 mpg city driving, 25 mpg on the highway, and 22 mpg combined.

You can opt for the more powerful 3.6-liter V-6 engine, paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission. With this configuration, you get an impressive 308 horsepower, 275 pound-feet of torque, and a towing capacity of 7,000 pounds. Even with the added displacement, you still get efficient performance. The EPA estimates this engine gets 17 mpg in the city, 24 mpg on the highway, and 19 mpg combined.

Chevy offers a 2.8-liter turbo-diesel four-cylinder engine as an option on all trims. This engine pairs with a six-speed automatic transmission. With this configuration, your Colorado puts out 181 horsepower, 369 pound-feet of torque, and tows up to 7,700 pounds. The turbo-diesel offers the perfect blend of power and efficiency. It gets an EPA-estimated 20 mpg around town, 30 mpg on the highway, and 30 mpg combined.

2022 Colorado Work Truck Trim

The WT model with an extended cab starts at $25,200. Opting for the crew cab costs an additional $1,900, and it's worth it if you haul passengers more than gear. Chevy designed the WT trim to work, giving it useful features such as a corner step integrated on the rear bumper and a locking tailgate. It rolls on 17-inch painted steel wheels and features manually adjustable side view mirrors. Chevy offers various option packages to elevate your Colorado WT.

Standard features inside include a four-way power-adjustable driver's seat, power windows and doors, and air conditioning. All your technology runs through the 7-inch touch screen with Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and Bluetooth technology. In addition, you get multiple USB ports and can add SiriusXM satellite radio for the six-speaker audio system.

2022 Colorado LT Trim

The LT trim comes next in the Colorado lineup. Starting at $27,700, you build off the standard features of the WT with several notable upgrades. Now, your Colorado LT rolls on 17-inch aluminum wheels and comes with power-adjustable side-view mirrors. You also get the EZ-Lift tailgate with remote lock/unlock capability.

The remote keyless entry system gets you inside the cab, where you find additional comfort and convenience add-ons. For example, you get a six-way power-adjustable driver's seat and premium cloth upholstery. In addition, the LT trim comes with a leather-wrapped steering wheel, cruise control, and an auto-dimming rearview mirror.

Additional technology features include the Chevrolet Connected Access, OnStar Telematics, second-row USB ports, and a Wi-Fi hotspot to connect up to seven devices with a range of up to 50 feet. You also get access to more package options.

2022 Colorado Z71 Trim

The Z71 features plenty of street style. Chevy lists the Z71 at a starting price of $34,800 with the standard crew cab and a short-box configuration. In addition, Chevy includes the V-6 engine, an automatic-locking rear differential, the off-road suspension package, projector-beam headlights, and heated, power-adjustable side view mirrors on every Z71 model.

Chevrolet provides convenient towing features such as a Tow/Haul drive mode to optimize your powertrain. You also get their hitch guidance system that helps you back your hitch to your trailer by sending a live video of your hitch to your infotainment screen.

Inside, you'll enjoy the heated front seats, a heated, leather-wrapped steering wheel, and the automatic climate-control system. Your upgraded Chevrolet Infotainment 3 Plus System features a larger 8-inch touch screen, voice recognition, and audio streaming for two devices simultaneously. In addition, you have a rear-park-assist system, wireless charging, and remote-start capability.

2022 Colorado ZR2 Trim

Chevy's top Colorado trim, the ZR2, comes with serious off-road capability and impressive interior comfort. With the extended cab and long bed, the ZR2 starts at $42,600. You get the capable 4x4 system that includes the Autotrac two-speed transfer case, locking front and rear differentials, an integrated trailer brake controller, and the Trailering package.

Autotrac enables you to switch from rear-wheel drive to four-wheel drive with the push of a button. You also have a four-wheel-drive high setting for control at higher speeds and a four-wheel-drive low option for navigating rugged terrain at slow speeds. The full-locking differentials allow you to lock each axle to make the wheels spin in unison for improved traction.

The ZR2 rolls on 17-inch Graphite and Oxide Gold aluminum wheels wrapped in aggressive Goodyear Wrangler off-road tires. Chevy includes the ZR2 Off-Road Package and a spray-on bed liner standard. The Off-Road Package adds DSSV Mutlimatic dampers for a smoother ride on and off the road, as well as signature exterior design cues and badging. Inside, you get the upgraded leather upholstery and a four-way power-adjustable passenger seat.
